Shaheen Haq

Producer Shaheen Haq joined Kali Films in 2009 as a Production Executive where she has been working on developing film and television content, writing and production. Shaheen was the Producer on the documentary Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth and was directly involved in structuring international co-productions, raising finance with international broadcasters and investors to all aspects of production, post production and delivery to distribution. This has also involved the often complex job of organizing 16 shoots in over 4 countries and reporting to as many different funders inclusive of ITVS and PBS|WNET. Her film collaboration with Pratibha Parmar began twenty years ago as a Production Designer on Parmar’s early films Sari Red, Emergence, A Place of Rage, Khush, and Warrior Marks. Born in Petticoat Lane, East London and of Pakistani descent, Shaheen studied Architecture at Thames Polytechnic and the University of Westminster during which time she also worked as a bar manger at Dingwall’s nightclub, the popular London live music venue in the pub rock and punk era of late 1970s. Shaheen has over 20 years experience as a Project Manager, Architect, and Managing Director of a successful international property development company. Her extensive experience and discipline in managing multiple projects from initial creative development through to successful final delivery, on schedule and within budget, has proved to be a strong foundation for her film producing career. She is currently in development with feature and documentary projects for Kali Films.
